- Is the redacted text really gone?
- Yes. Every page with a redaction is rebuilt as an image with the boxes painted in, so the original text, images, and hidden layers on that page are removed, not just covered.
- Why is text on redacted pages no longer selectable?
- Flattening the page is what makes the redaction permanent. Pages without redactions keep their selectable text. Run OCR PDF afterwards if you need redacted pages searchable.
- Does search find text in scanned documents?
- No, scans contain no text to search. Draw boxes over the sensitive areas instead, or run OCR PDF first.
- Is my document uploaded?
- No. Redaction happens entirely in your browser, which is essential for confidential files.
